ABOUT THE ARTIST
Wilderado is based out of Tulsa, OK. The band is made up of Max Rainer (lead singer/guitarist), Colton Dearing (bassist/vocalist), Tyler Wimpee (guitarist/vocalist) and Justin Kila (drummer). The self-proclaimed “four dudes”, have been making music together for just a couple of years now.
Wilderado previously released two EP’s – Misty Shrub and Latigo. In addition, the band released a collection of singles that received critical acclaim from music publications like Consequence of Sound and Paste Magazine. Their songs highlight their vocal harmonies, like single “Talking About Love To A Cigarette”.
Wilderado has racked up over 18 million streams on Spotify with their songs. That success has led to the band making appearances at a number of festivals including Bonnaroo and Sasquatch, as well as touring with bands like Judah & The Lion and Band of Horses.
THE MUSIC
Wilderado released their third EP – Favors – earlier this year. Writing the songs for the album was truly a collaborative effort between all four band members. In addition, Wilderado enlisted the production talents of Phil Ek in the recording of the EP. Ek has worked with artists such as Father John Misty and Fleet Foxes.
The songs on the EP are a bit of a departure from Wilderado’s previous music. They definitely have a rock quality to them, most evident on the first track – “You Don’t Love Me“ – which highlights the guitar throughout the song.
“Sorrow”, which is their current single, has a more mellow sound at the beginning, but picks up the pace about halfway through. That “rock song” quality continues into the third track – “Sirens” – which reminds me of songs from other indie rock bands like The Trews or Carbon Leaf. Wilderado returns to highlighting their vocal harmonies on the last track on the EP – “Favors”.
On December 7th, Wilderado will be releasing Favors (acoustic). Described as a stripped down version of the original EP, the band wants to give their fans the opportunity to dig into the music and get to the heart of the songs. The first track to be released in acoustic form is “Sorrow (acoustic)”.
THE TOUR
Wilderado appeared at both the Grandoozy Festival and Austin City Limits. Now, they are ready to go out on the road this fall with Sure Sure.
The tour will include a stop in Philadelphia at The Foundry on October 22nd. Fans are in for a treat, as The Foundry is a great small room that will give you a chance to get up close and personal with the band and their stripped-down songs.
