ABOUT THE ARTIST
Hudson Taylor is a duo made up of brothers Harry and Alfie Hudson Taylor. Born and raised in Dublin, they released their debut album Singing For Strangers in 2015. That album contained three big hits – “Chasing Rubies”, “Battles” and “Weapons”.

Hudson Taylor started their musical career by busking on the streets of Dublin and other cities across Europe. After the release of their debut album, the duo started to gain recognition across Europe.
2017 was Hudson Taylor’s most successful year yet. They appeared at the Electric Festival in Ireland in September, playing to one of the biggest crowds of the weekend. Their single “Feel It Again” was one of the biggest hits in Ireland in 2017. Hudson Taylor played a run of arena shows with Picture This, as well as headlining their own sold-out tour throughout Ireland. They wrapped up 2017 with two big shows in Dublin at The Script and Kodaline.
THE MUSIC
Hudson Taylor just released their second album – Bear Creek to Dame Street – on September 21st. The album was produced by Ryan Hadlock. Hadlock has worked with such artists as The Lumineers and Vance Joy. The album was mixed by Ruadhri Cushnan, who has worked on albums for Mumford & Sons and Ed Sheeran.

I was lucky enough to get a special preview of the album and I was impressed! The album is a combination of studio recordings as well as live recordings. Bear Creek is the name of the studio in Seattle where the first four songs on the album were recorded. Dame Street is where the Olympia Theatre in Dublin is located. The live tracks are Hudson Taylor classics that they performed at the theater in front of a sold-out crowd earlier this year.
The lead off song – “One In A Million” – starts out with just a guitar, but quickly speeds up the tempo. The song is catchy and you’ll immediately catch yourself tapping your toe as you listen.
“You Don’t Wanna Know” highlights Hudson Taylor’s vocals and harmonies. The piano and strings add drama and impact to the song.
The tempo picks back up on the third track of the album – “I Love You and You Don’t Even Know”. A catchy and quirky love song about unrequited love, this is another toe tapper that audiences will have a lot fun listening to live.
The final studio recorded song on the album is “Shot Someone”. The song is melancholy and again highlights Hudson Taylor’s vocals.
The album then moves into the live recordings at the Olympia Theatre. It’s great to hear the crowd singing along with Hudson Taylor. It’s clear that they have a dedicated fan base in Ireland. After listening to their new album, I can understand the following, and it’s only a matter of time before they find their audience in North America.
THE TOUR
Hudson Taylor first toured North America earlier this year with Gabrielle Aplin. The duo is very excited to be hitting the road this fall opening for Hozier at venues across the U.S. and Canada, before heading back to Europe in November.
The tour will include a stop at The Fillmore in Philadelphia on October 3rd. The Fillmore is one of my favorite venues in Philadelphia. With Hudson Taylor opening and Hozier headlining, fans are in for a treat!
